The Birth of BtbHS

The inception of BtbHS marks a significant milestone in the horse community, aiming to create a platform that honors Thoroughbreds beyond their racing careers. Robyn’s Nest Farm, a name synonymous with excellence in equestrian events, envisioned an event where these magnificent horses could demonstrate their capabilities in various disciplines. The sponsorship by Robyn’s Nest Farm underscores their commitment to promoting and supporting the Thoroughbred breed, fostering an environment where these horses can shine in diverse roles.

The Qualities of Thoroughbreds

Thoroughbreds are renowned for their versatility. Although primarily bred for racing, their aptitude extends well beyond the racetrack. In disciplines such as dressage, show jumping, eventing, and even therapeutic riding, Thoroughbreds exhibit exceptional talent and adaptability. Their athleticism is evident in their powerful strides, agile movements, and robust physique, making them ideal candidates for competitive equestrian sports.

More than their physical attributes, it is the heart of the Thoroughbred that truly sets them apart. Known for their loyalty, intelligence, and willingness to connect with humans, Thoroughbreds often forge deep bonds with their riders and caretakers. This emotional depth enhances their performance and makes them cherished partners in equestrian activities.

Our Impact & Success

Reflecting on 2024, BEYOND the backstretch achieved significant milestones and has begun preparations for the Second Annual BEYOND the backstretch Benefit Horse Show. In 2024, the organization made sizable donations to Second Chance Thoroughbreds, Inc. in Spencer, NY, and The Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation in Saratoga, NY.

Throughout the year, BEYOND the backstretch held various fundraising events in addition to the horse show. For 2025, plans include expanding the show with the addition of USEF Outreach classes and continuing to offer Thoroughbred Incentive Program awards.

The tentative date for the horse show is June 14, 2025, which will feature Thoroughbred Incentive Program Awards, Hunter, Jumper, and Derby classes, along with USEF Outreach divisions. The event, focused on Thoroughbreds, welcomes all breeds and will be held at Chemung Co Fairgrounds in Horseheads, NY.

Profits from the June 14 event will be donated to Lucky Orphans in Dutchess County, NY, and Finger Lakes Thoroughbred Adoption Program in Farmington, NY.

Annual Expansion

As BtbHS grows, annual expansions are anticipated to include more competitive categories, larger venues, and increased participation from Thoroughbred enthusiasts nationwide. The event aims to become a cornerstone in the equestrian calendar, drawing attention to the versatility and beauty of Thoroughbreds.

Supporting Thoroughbred Welfare

A core mission of BtbHS is to support the welfare of Thoroughbreds. Proceeds from the event are allocated to various aftercare programs dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of retired racehorses. Partnering with rescue organizations and rehabilitation centers, BtbHS strives to ensure that Thoroughbreds enjoy fulfilling lives after their racing careers.
